Reported by the Lexington Ledger

Swansea, SC (Paul Kirby) – A single vehicle collision has claimed the life of one man less that an hour into the new month. According to Master Trooper David Jones of the SC Highway Patrol, this occurred on SC Hwy. 6 just outside the town of Swansea.

Jones said that this incident happened at approximately 12:44 a.m. on Monday, June 1, 2020.

Jones said a man was travelling on SC Hwy. near the intersection of Martin Neese Road in a pickup truck. At some point he ran off the edge of the road, lost control of the truck and struck a tree. He was not wearing his seatbelt at the time he crashed.  He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher is responsible for releasing the identity of the man. She will do that once his family has been notified.

This is still under investigation by the SCHP.
