3 People Died in Orangeburg County Crashes

Three cars were involved in the first wreck with two fatalities. One car was involved in the second accident with one fatality.

Memorial Day brought tragic news in Orangeburg County according to Highway Patrol Master Trooper Brian Lee at www.wach.com

WRECK #1

After 8 pm, three vehicles were in a wreck on US 178 close to Shilling Bridge Rd. A man driving a Kia ran a stop sign and was hit by a Lincoln. The Kia driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was killed when his car rolled and hit a tree.

The Lincoln was pushed into oncoming traffic and was hit by a Chevy. The Chevy driver was killed. The Lincoln driver was taken to the hospital.

WRECK #2

A driver ran off of US 178 close to Still Wood Cir.  around 11 pm and flipped, hitting a utility pole. Although the driver was wearing a seatbelt, he did not survive the crash.

Orangeburg County Coroner Samuetta Marshall has released the names of the three people who died in vehicle crashes on Monday.

They are:

  • Nicholas Abraham, 37, 117 Deer Crossing Road, Orangeburg
  • Jimmy Whitmore, 73, 139 Jefferson St, Orangeburg
  • Darius Brown, 21, 113 Golden Leaf Lane, Orangeburg

Their deaths have all been ruled accidental. They died of blunt force trauma.

There were two separate deadly crashes on North Road in Orangeburg County on Monday. It was unclear Wednesday evening who was involved in each particular crash.
